Barbados, the Pride of the Caribbean

By: Robert27 Allen27

Barbados, the Pride of the Caribbean
Barbados is listed among the best tourist destinations of the world. This beautiful place is surrounded by the sugarcane plants, clear and sparkling water. Though the place is a popular tourist destination but the presence of the Bajan people had helped to protect the place’s serenity. And in case you thought typical laid back nature of the Caribbean was exaggerated, you can be assured it is not. Here are a few tips to help make your Barbados holiday a memorable one.
The Rum
Much of Barbados’ identity comes from its production of rum and its main ingredient, the sugar canes. Green flowing canes are visible across the country and in the South West of the country is the Mount Gay Rum factory, where visitors can learn about the history and production of Barbados’ most famous export, as well as sampling it. It’s interesting and well worth a visit.
The Sea
The Bajan sea is warm and clear, perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving and home to many reefs and exciting underwater species. The Tigerfish, beautiful but deadly, are to able to be seen but exist in small numbers and shy away from swimmers. Sharks are off the agenda which is good news, and turtle feeding boat excursions are readily available for tourists. Watersports are also available all along the coast and prove popular with visitors.
The Food
Barbados has many quality restaurants, from smaller more homely outfits to swish exclusive eateries. The choice is yours and the cuisine is regarded highly. A mix of fresh seafood and meats give the Caribbean its distinctive cuisine and a taste of the customary Jerk style food is a must for all visitors who are curious about their destination’s traditions. Several of the hotels offer beach barbecue buffets during your stay and these are a great way to sample many of the regions mouth-watering food.
